Introduction to rock climbing

Embark on your climbing adventure today! Whether you're a seasoned climber or a complete novice, this course will equip you with essential climbing skills, marking your first step toward becoming an independent climber. Designed specifically for beginners, our program prepares you for top rope climbing.

We offer two course formats: a one-day session for those short on time and a two-day option, which we highly recommend. The two-day course provides ample opportunity to reinforce your newly acquired skills and practice in a supportive environment.

What is covered:

  • using climbing equipment (how to put a harness on, adjusting helmet, choosing right shoes size)

  • tying in to a rope

  • belaying using different belay devices

  • lowering, holding a fall, abseiling

  • moving on a rock, bouldering, traversing

  • using guidebooks

  • crag ethics, access and risk management

Duration: 1 day or 2 days

Minimum age: 18 or needs to be supervised by a legal guardian

Location: Peak District crags: Burbage Edge, Stanage Edge, Millstone Edge, Horseshoe Quarry, The Roaches and more!

What is provided: instructor, all the climbing kit

What is not provided: transport to the crag
